I know that there are a lot of men who like to wear thongs, and some guys think that pictures of men in thongs are the pinnacle of the men in panties universe. But truth be told, I have never been a very big fan of thongs – and that goes for thongs on men and on women!
I think there are two issues involved when dealing with the issue of thongs – how they look and how they feel. Let’s address each one in turn shall we?
How Thongs Look
When it comes to how thongs look, I have view different views – how thongs look as panties, and how thongs look on people.
Thongs as Panties
On the one hand, I LOVE the way thongs look as panties. When I am in the store browsing through the panty racks and bins and I see a bunch of sexy thongs, I have to admit that they usually look totally hot. They’re so dainty and so cute, while at the same time being so naughty that it’s almost impossible not to love them. In fact, they always look so good in the store and online that I often have to force myself not to buy them.
Why don’t I buy them? Because as much as I love the way thong panties look by themselves, I usually hate the way they look on people – and me in particular!
Thongs on People
Although I think thongs look really sexy as panties, for the most part I don’t particularly like the way they look when they are actually being worn by someone. To understand why, here are some points to think about:
- First, thongs leave little (very little) to the imagination. There’s a lot to be said about maintaining a little mystery, and I think that the most alluring panties are the ones that are skimpy enough be revealing, but still cover up enough to keep things interesting.
- Thongs essentially “disappear” when you put them on. I think the fact that from the backside, a girl wearing a thong is essentially naked is why most guys find them to be so sexy. But if you actually like the look of panties, then a pair of underwear that disappears up your butt when you put them on is not such a good thing.
- Regular panties accentuate and enhance a person’s body. By strategically covering up certain areas and revealing others, panties draw your eye to certain curves and other features, and the overall effect is really, really sexy. Thongs, on the other hand, don’t really do much to enhance your body. They simply make you put it all out there for display.
Let’s face it – in order really rock a thong, you really need to have a good body – which most of us don’t. Because panties can hide certain areas and accentuate other areas, you can have an average body and still look darn sexy in the right pair of panties. Thongs, on the other hand, make your body stand completely on its own merit. Worse – to me, it seems like thongs actually accentuate any flaws that you do have, and make it even more apparent just how un-perfect it is! In fact, I think that often times, a thong will make a person look like they have a worse body then they actually do.
Women in Thongs
I will admit that even though I think thongs are too revealing for their own good, they can look pretty darn good on women. I think that because of their natural curves, women can pull off the thong-look more easily that a guy. It’s hard not to appreciate the beauty of a woman’s figure no matter what she is wearing.
But I still think that even on women, thongs often reveal too much for their own good, and that many times more coverage is far sexier than less coverage.
I would be interested in knowing what others think, so at the bottom of this post I have posted two pictures, one of a girl in a thong and one of a girl in a bikini. Under that is a poll where you can pick which one you think is sexier. I will be interested to see the results and to find out if I am in the majority or the minority of this issue.
Men in Thongs
When it comes to the subject of men wearing thongs, things get a little trickier. The picture of the older, overweight guy wearing a completely inappropriate, far-too-skimpy thong is almost a cliche. But what’s the reality? Are guys in thongs really that bad?
Well . . . often times . . . yes!
Don’t believe me? Check out this picture and tell me I’m wrong!
* * * * *
Sorry about that – that was mean!
I’m just joking of course. For all you guys out there who think the sight of a guy wearing a thong is a slice of heaven, more power to you. But for me, I think I’ll pass. Men wearing thongs just doesn’t do anything for me.
How Thongs Feel
While I have never been a big fan of how thongs look (at least when worn by actual people), how they feel is another matter. In fact, it is how thongs feel on your body that is causing me to reconsidering my long standing no-thongs policy.
A lot of women will not wear thongs because they do not like the notorious wedgie-feel thongs give you. But quite frankly, I think that feeling is one of the most alluring aspects of a thong.
As I mentioned in this post, I love wearing panties and lingerie that you can actually feel under your clothes. There are some panties that advertise the fact that you don’t even notice that you are wearing them as a benefit. I think that’s just nuts! It’s the sensuous feel of the fabric against my skin, and the snug, hugging sensation of panties and lingerie that is such a huge turn on for me. There’s nothing more erotic than going about your day and being constantly reminded of the naughty little secret that you have under your clothes. Panties that you can actually feel while you are wearing them are the best!
When it comes to panties that don’t let you forget you’re wearing them, it’s hard to beat a thong. While most people would not describe the feeling of the thong-wedgie as being pleasant, I disagree. Panties that provide a constant reminder of the fact that I am wearing them under my clothes is a delicious distraction that I can never get enough of, and as much as I do not really like the way thongs look on me, I do love the way they feel on me.
No post about men in thongs would be complete without a word about man thongs – that is, thongs that are specifically made for men.
To me, the term “man thong” is almost an oxymoron, almost like “mens panties”. To me, panties are, by definition, underwear for women, so the underwear that claims to be panties that are made for men doesn’t make sense.
While I don’t think its quite as true, to me, thongs are also (almost by definition) a type of panty, and therefor, women’s underwear.
Since I am one of those guys for whom the taboo nature of wearing panties is one of its most appealing aspects, I have a hard time understanding why a guy would want to buy panties that were made for men. For me, if I am going to wear mens underwear, I might as well wear jockeys or boxers. Call me old fashioned, but I want my panties to be women’s panties!
The same goes with thongs for me. If I am going to join the ranks of guys in thongs, I don’t think I will be buying any of those masculine, manly-man thongs, nor will I be buying any of those thongs with the clever little sleeve to hold my man parts. If I am going to venture into the exciting, exotic world of thongs, I think I will stick with the cute, dainty little pairs, thank you very much.
